Chat Reel: James Quintong

CNNSI Host: Welcome to today's fantasy NFL chat with James Quintong. Thanks for joining us JQ.
James Quintong: Hello everyone!

From Patrick in Reston, Va.: Right now my WR corps looks like this: Rod Smith, Torry Holt, and Kevin Johnson. Could you see any reason to put Kevin Dyson in the mix instead of one of these guys?
James Quintong: I'm not a big fan of Johnson, and Dyson has been playing very well recently, so I'd probably make that switch. The Titans are throwing the ball more because Eddie George has been so mediocre this year, so Dyson and Derrick Mason are cashing in.

From Mark Ambler in Kailua, Hawaii: In a league based mainly on TD's, who's the better start this week, Charlie Garner or Warrick Dunn?
James Quintong: I think I like Dunn a little better. The running back situation in Oakland is so murky that just about anyone could score, and it's hard to predict who will get the TDs. It's a bit more cut and dry in Tampa Bay with Dunn and Alstott, and I think there could be a bunch of chances for both of them to score against the Lions.

From Anna Lim in Hyattsville, Md.: What QB would you start in week 13: Steve McNair or Daunte Culpepper? The two face off against each other and consequently both face weak defenses. Who looks like the hotter prospect?
James Quintong: With Culpepper's knee still hurting and his status for this week up in the air, I'd go with McNair. He's been playing well in recent weeks anyway, and it would've been a tossup to begin with even without Culpepper's injury.

From Quercetum: Could Jake Plummer's somewhat consistent outings be considered a "breakthrough" year for a QB? What is your outlook for the Snake the rest of the season and next year?
James Quintong: I've always been a big fan of Plummer, despite his inconsistencies, so it's nice to see him string together some good games. I think he'll be a nice QB to have down the stretch, especially if David Boston plays as well as he has, and either MarTay Jenkins or Frank Sanders can step in as a solid No. 2 wideout. Jenkins has had his flashes of brilliance, so there is a chance he could do something.

From dilly: Would you recommend picking up Todd Bouman?
James Quintong: If you've got no other options, I probably would. He did play reasonably well in the second half last week, plus he has Carter and Moss to throw to, which will help any QB. If anything, it's good to have him stashed away on the bench just in case.

From Jerry: Do you think Curtis Conway will remain a consistent receiver through the last few games?
James Quintong: I'm not sold on any of the San Diego receivers to be consistent. Conway and Jeff Graham both are good targets, but Doug Flutie has been so inconsistent that it's hard to predict what the receivers will do in the long run.

From Dagster: Do you think Troy Brown will finally have a 100-yard game?
James Quintong: The Patriots like to spread the ball around on shorter passes, so if Brown does get a 100-yard game, he will likely have to catch 8-10 passes. He is a candidate to break the 100-yard mark, but there are more than enough able targets out there that take catches away from him.

From gutz: Will Van Pelt rebound with a big week against a weak Panthers defense?
James Quintong: I like his chances this week. Van Pelt was terrible last week, but he lit up a good Dolphins defense a couple of weeks ago. I see most of the Bills having big games this week, so guys like Eric Moulds and Travis Henry are definitely worth starting.

From AzMoMan: Do you think that Garrison Hearst will continue his solid play against a good Rams defense this week?
James Quintong: I'd expect his numbers to slip a bit from last week's big game, but I think he'll still do fine. The game looks to be a shootout, but he could get a few carries near the goal line and score a TD or two -- much like Dunn or Alstott a couple of weeks ago.

From Jerry: Priest Holmes is having an outstanding season, is he worth the start again this week?
James Quintong: Definitely. The Raiders have had problems stopping the run in past weeks, so Holmes should have a big game. Remember that Shaun Alexander had one of the best games in NFL history against Oakland, and the Raiders have been a bit more vulnerable in recent weeks.

From Chammer: Between Terrell Davis, Staley and Thomas I need one. Leaning towards TD. Is he back for good?
James Quintong: If he's healthy, TD should be a good start. I'd lean toward him this week over the other two anyway. But it's good to have the other two waiting because you'll never know when TD will go down again.

From KrisT: How badly will Watters take from Alexander's carries?
James Quintong: Watters will get a few looks here and there, but I still think it would be crazy for Alexander not to get the bulk of the carries down the stretch. Alexander has slipped a little bit in recent weeks, but some of his past efforts should have salted away the No. 1 job.

CNNSI Host: That's all the time we have this week with James Quintong. Thanks and we'll see you again next week.
James Quintong: Thanks for all the great questions. Good luck as we hit the playoff stretch.
