PEDRO PINTO

BIOGRAPHY


Pedro Pinto is a sports anchor for CNN International (CNNI). Pinto joined CNNI in August 1998 after holding several sports writing and reporting positions.

Most recently Pinto served as a news and sports anchor and editor for Caderno Diario, airing on Radiotelevisao Portuguesa (RTP2), where he interviewed Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio. Also during this time he hosted a live interactive game show, "Hugo." From 1996 to 1997, Pinto hosted and reported for various sports and entertainment shows. He gained sports writing experience while attending UNC Charlotte where he was the senior sports writer for the University Times, and for Eurowatch Desporto, an international sports server in Portugal. He initially gained television experience as an intern, and as assistant producer and video editor for NBC's Canal de Noticias, its South American Network.

From 1990 to 1992 Pinto attended the American International School. He received a bachelors degree in communications and marketing at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte in 1996. While at UNCC he was enrolled in the Carolina School of Broadcasting, a one-year intensive broadcasting program. At UNCC Pinto was honored with the University Times writer of the year in 1993 and was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society in 1995.
