Lewis threw a left hook that barely missed. Lewis got in a jab
and they clinched. Holyfield's first punch was a sweeping hook that
was short. Not much landed in the first 30 seconds. They were
trying to figure each other out. Neither was throwing much as the
first minute passed. Lewis missed with a right. There was a lot of
feinting, little punching. Lewis got in two stiff jabs, then
another. Then they went back to posing. Holyfield missed an
overhead right at 2 minutes. Lewis landed a right to the head, then
two good jabs. Holyfield landed a left hook to the jaw at 2:43,
Lewis countered with a jab. Holyfield picked up Lewis and threw him
down right at the bell.

Lewis opened the second round with three or four jabs as
Holyfield circled away. Lewis landed a hard right, then another and
trapped Holyfield on the ropes with 30 seconds left. Lewis got in
another jab. The action slowed again near the minute mark. There
wasn't a punch landed for almost a minute when Lewis got in a left
jab. Lewis landed another jab and missed with a right. Lewis got in
a short right with 40 seconds left. Lewis landed a right uppercut
and the crowd roared. Holyfield was doing little.

down but Lewis opens with a left-right combination to the head.
Lewis doubles up his jab and lands a straight right.
Holyfield digs to the body and appears to be picking up the
pace. Holyfield lands two light jabs but Lewis counters with
three of his own. Holyfield lands a left to the body and scores
with a combination to the head. Holyfield lands a big overhand
right to Lewis chin. Lewis fires back with an uppercut to the
chin. Holyfield digs a right to the body and lands a left hook
to the head. Holyfield lands a short right to the chin and
follows with a left to the head. Holyfield lands a right cross
but Lewis responds with a combination of his own.

keep Holyfield at bay. Holyfield lands a lunging left to the
chest. Lewis blocks an overhand right by Holyfield and lands a
left jab to side of the head. Lewis follows with a right cross.

at 1:45 followed by a hard right uppercut. Action slowed again.

another, and walked away from Holyfield.

Holyfield comes out aggressive, charges Lewis and both fighters
tumble to the canvas. Lewis lands a quick right off the break
and slips a pawing left jab into Holyfield's face. Holyfield
lands a left hook to the body in an attempt to force the action.
Holyfield traps Lewis on the ropes but is having trouble landing
clean punches. Lewis lands a left to the rib cage and a big
overhand right that snaps back Holyfield's head. Lewis lands
two big rights and a left to the head. Lewis lands another
solid right to the head. Holyfield blocks a left hook.
Holyfield lands a left to the head but misses wildly with a left

of Holyfield. Lewis answers with a combination and a right cross
to Holyfield's head. Holyfield lands a right cross with
seemingly no effect. Lewis continues to score with the left

little more urgency. He remains unable to get inside. Holyfield
digs two punches to the body but Lewis answers with a short left
uppercut. Holyfield lands two left jabs to the chest but is
quickly tied up. Lewis lands a right hand and follows with two
left jabs. Holyfield counters with a right to the shoulder.
Lewis lands a short right to the head but Holyfield charges
forward and lands a right of his own. Holyfield connects with a
right just before the bell.

right cross to the chin. Lewis is repeatedly dropping his
gloves. Lewis misses a right uppercut. Lewis dodges a left
hook and lands a jab to the body.

snaps Holyfield's head with a left jab. Both fighters are
moving in an attempt to find an angle. Lewis has returned to
the jab. Holyfield lunges and lands a glancing right but is
unable to find a comfort range. Lewis lands two more jabs to
the head and a right hand to the chest. Holyfield is attempting
to force the issue. Holyfield's jab gets through and he follows
with a left to the head. Lewis sidesteps a Holyfield right
hand and deflects a left hook. Lewis sends a crisp right hand

left to the body, but Lewis quickly ties him up. Lewis flicks
three effective left jabs. With a minute left, Holyfield has
yet to attempt a last-minute flurry. Mercante tells both
fighters to pick up the pace. Lewis continues to jab
effectively. Lewis digs a left to the body and Holyfield
responds with two punches to the body. The fighters clinch as
the bell rings.
