PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- A brilliant regular season for the St. Louis Rams ended in sloppy fashion.

Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk reached statistical milestones, but the Rams committed seven turnovers in a 38-31 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Defensive end Mike Mamula and cornerback Al Harris returned interceptions for scores for Philadelphia, which picked off four passes and finished 5-11 in its first season under coach Andy Reid.

The Rams (13-3) already have clinched homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs and will host a divisional game the weekend of January 15-16.

"We're going to keep doing what we've been doing. Why change?" said Rams coach Dick Vermeil. "We've been successful. We won 13 games."

It was the second loss in Philadelphia in as many years for Vermeil, who guided the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 1980. The Rams lost at Veterans Stadium, 17-14, last season.

Warner played into the third quarter and completed 12-of-24 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. The first TD pass, an eight-yard shovel pass to Faulk midway through the first quarter, allowed Warner to join Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks with 40 TD passes in a season. Marino did it for Miami in 1984 and 1986.

"I was cognizant of (the record). We were talking about it a little this week," said Warner. "I was just hoping we could get it out of the way so we could go about our business."

Warner and backup Joe Germaine each were intercepted twice.

Faulk carried six times for 79 yards and a score and had three receptions for 27 yards, giving him 2,429 yards from scrimmage. He broke the NFL record of 2,358 set by Barry Sanders of Detroit in 1997.

"You can take this (loss) one of two ways," Faulk said. "You can be down or you can use it as a challenge."

Philadelphia rookie Donovan McNabb completed 15-of-32 passes for 179 yards and three scores, including a five-yard scoring strike to tight end Chad Lewis early in the fourth quarter that broke a 24-24 tie.

Harris iced the victory by returning a pass from Germaine 17 yards for a score with 1:16 left.

"We have a lot of young guys on this team," Reid said. "It's nice for them to end the season on a winning note."

"I am proud of the team," Eagles owner Jeff Lurie said. "The way they have stuck in there shows their work ethic."

Faulk had a 57-yard run on the first play of the second quarter and later scored on a 1-yard run to make it 14-3. The Eagles answered on their ensuing possession with a 67-yard TD pass from McNabb to Torrance Small, his third TD catch of more than 50 yards this season.

Jeff Wilkins added a 47-yard field goal for the Rams before McNabb threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Duce Staley with 32 seconds left in the second quarter to tie the game 17-17 at halftime. On the ground, Staley was held to 44 yards on 18 carries.

The Eagles took their first lead at 24-17 when Mamula intercepted a pass from Warner and raced 41 yards for the score.

Warner responded three minutes later with a 15-yard TD pass to Torry Holt.

Holt caught five passes for 122 yards, including a 63-yard TD pass from Germaine with 59 seconds left.
