| Summary
Started his career at LSU, but transferred when he was stuck playing behind 1997 first round pick, David LeFleur. Three year starter at LA Tech and has been very productive catching the ball, finishing the 1997 season with 46 catches for 555 yards and 8 TDs. He is a huge target and a very big man for a TE. He has excellent hands and short to immediate routes and he is a very steady pass catcher. He lacks speed and is not a deep threat, but he knows how to find the open seams in underneath zones and he has a good feel for the passing game. He is not a real nifty guy and he has trouble separating versus tight M to M coverage, but he's so big and physical he can usually out muscle the defender and he is an absolute load to bring down after the catch. He does not have great initial quickness off the ball and he does not show a burst or extra gear to go and get it. For all of his size, he is not an overly effective blocker and he plays a little straight legged and stiff. He does not look very athletic in space, but his production is better than his numbers indicate. He also has deep snap ability and has done a pretty good job in this area and can improve. He will be an interesting guy on the NFL level. He must improve his blocking and physical play because he will not be able to have the success catching the ball that he had on the college level. Defenses may be able to take him out of the passing game with strong M to M coverage, however, if he can develop into a legitimate long snapper, he could find a role as a backup TE that could contribute on 3rd down. His athletic numbers will not likely improve, but he is a pretty good football player.
