NCAA Football Recap (Eastern Ky-Kentucky) Posted: Sat September 12, 1998 at 5:04 p.m. EDT KENTUCKY 52, EASTERN KY 7LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Tim Couch threw for five touchdowns and tied a school record with his 50th scoring pass as Kentucky demolished in-state rival and Division I-AA opponent Eastern Kentucky, 52-7. Couch, who threw for 498 yards and seven touchdowns in Kentucky's season-opening 68-34 victory over Louisville, completed 32-of-41 passes for 372 yards as the Wildcats are off to their first 2-0 start since 1989, when they went 6-5. His final touchdown pass of the game, a 25-yarder to Garry Davis with 8:04 left moved him into a tie with Vito "Babe" Parilli, who threw 50 TD passes from 1949-51. Couch reached the mark in 20 games. Craig Yeast had seven catches for 113 yards and one touchdown, tying a Kentucky record with his 17th scoring reception. He shares the mark with Steve Meilinger, who played from 1951-53. Eastern Kentucky (1-1), which is ranked ninth in the ESPN/USA Today Division I-AA coaches' poll, scored its only points on a nine-yard pass from Jon Denton to Tony DeGreogorio in the third quarter.
