ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Jarrod Baxter rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns as New Mexico closed out its regular season with a 53-0 Mountain West Conference victory over New Mexico State.

Baxter, who carried 21 times, scored on a three-yard run in the second period and a seven-yard burst in the third quarter.

Javier Hanson added 88 yards on 12 carries for the Lobos (6-5), who rushed for 350 yards. Casey Kelly completed just 5-of-9 passes for 113 yards.

New Mexico won four of its final five games to finish the regular season above .500. The Lobos have not posted a winning record since 1997.

The Lobos started slowly, only leading 3-0 at the end of the first period, but Kelly's seven-yard TD run with 44 seconds left in the second quarter made it 19-0 at the half.

Baxter and Holman Wiggins contributed short TD runs in the third period before New Mexico tacked on three scores in the final quarter.

K.C. Enzminger completed just 8-of-22 passes for only 77 yards and two interceptions for New Mexico State (5-7). The Aggies were held to 79 yards on the ground.

The Lobos lead the all-time series, 60-27-5. The teams first played in 1894, 18 years before New Mexico became the 47th state.
