BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Ticker) -- After last week's heartbreaking loss, Alabama took out its frustration on Texas-El Paso. Tyler Watts rushed for 101 yards and tossed two touchdown passes to Triandos Luke as the Crimson Tide cruised to a 56-7 victory over the Miners. Alabama (2-2) suffered a 37-36 loss to South Carolina last week, surrendering two touchdowns in the final 6 1/2 minutes. Saturday's contest never was in doubt as the Crimson Tide scored 21 points in each of the first two periods to open a 42-0 halftime lead. Donnie Lowe scored on two short touchdown runs before Watts threw a 10-yard TD strike to Luke to make it 21-0 after the first period Watts added TD runs of 10 and nine yards in the second quarter, then found Luke again for a three-yard TD with 31 seconds left in the half. Watts completed 12-of-18 and carried nine times for his second straight 100-yard game. He rushed 22 times for 152 yards on 22 attempts against South Carolina. Alabama, which rushed for 360 yards, stretched its lead to 56-0 before UTEP (2-2) got on the board on backup quarterback Jon Schaper's 74-yard run midway through the final quarter. Wesley Phillips was just 5-of-14 for 68 yards with an interception before giving way to Schaper.
