Last year: Davis Love III won the event for the record fifth time, beating Woody Austin on the fourth hole of a playoff.

Last week: Phil Mickelson won the Masters for his first major title, birdieing the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Ernie Els. Tiger Woods tied for 22nd, 11 strokes back.

Notes: Love also won in 1987, 1991, 1992 and 1998. ... Els and Retief Goosen are in the field along with European stars Darren Clarke, Bernhard Langer, Justin Rose and Lee Westwood. ... Kenny Knox set the tour record with 93 putts in the 1989 tournament, a mark matched last year by Mark Calcavecchia in the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic. Knox finished 10 strokes behind winner Payne Stewart. ... David Frost shot a course-record 61 in 1994, and Loren Roberts set the tournament record of 19-under 265 in 1996. ... The Shell Houston Open is next week, followed by the HP Classic of New Orleans.

Purse: $1.1 million. Winner's share: $165,000.

Television: The Golf Channel (Thursday, 5-7:30 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, midnight-2:30 a.m., 5-7:30 p.m.; Sunday, midnight-2:30 a.m.).

Last year: Candie Kung won her first tour title, holding off Annika Sorenstam, Cristie Kerr and Soo-Yun Kang by two strokes.

Last event: Sorenstam won the Office Depot Championship on April 4 for her 50th LPGA Tour title, beating Ashli Bunch by three strokes. Sorenstam also won the event in 2001 and 2003.

Notes: Sorenstam is skipping the tournament. She won the 2002 event in Hawaii, beating Lorie Kane on the first hole of a playoff. ... Kraft Nabisco winner Grace Park tops the field along with Juli Inkster, 17-year-old Aree Song and Sophie Gustafson. ... The tour is off next week. Play will resume April 29-May 2 with the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship in Stockbridge, Ga.

Blue Angels Classic

Course: The Moors Golf Club (6,832 yards, par 70).

Purse: $1.5 million. Winner's share: $225,000.

Television: The Golf Channel (Friday, 2:30-5 p.m., 9-11:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9-11:30 p.m.; Sunday, 3-5:30 a.m., 5-7:30 p.m., 9-11:30 p.m.).

Last year: Bob Gilder won by four strokes, closing with a 7-under 63 for a tournament-record 17-under 193 total.

Last event: Tom Purtzer won the Toshiba Classic on March 21, matching the tour record with an opening 11-under 60 en route to a one-stroke victory over Morris Hatalsky.

Notes: Japan's Isao Aoki shot a tour-record 60 in his 1997 victory. ... The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf is next week in Savannah, Ga., followed by the Bruno's Memorial in Hoover, Ala.

Last event: Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez won his second European tour title of the year, beating Australia's Terry Price by two strokes in the Algarve Open on April 4. Jimenez also won the Johnnie Walker Classic in Thailand.

Notes: The Jose Maria Olazabal-designed course also will be the site of the World Cup in November. ... The Canarias Open of Spain is next week in the Canary Islands, followed by the Italian Open at Castello di Tolcinasco in Milan.

First Tee Arkansas Classic

Site: Hot Springs Village, Ark.

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.

Course: Diamante Golf Club (7,519 yards, par 72).

Purse: $475,000. Winner's share: $85,500.

Television: None.

Last year: Ted Purdy won his first tour title, beating Chris Tidland on the third hole of a playoff.

Last event: Jimmy Walker moved within a victory of an in-season promotion to the PGA Tour, winning the Louisiana Open on March 28 for his second Nationwide Tour win of the year. The former Baylor player also won the season-opening Panama Championship.

Notes: The tour will remain in Arkansas next week for the Rheem Classic in Fort Smith. The BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs is April 29-May 2 in Greenville, S.C.
